Is it achievable? Of course it is but it takes purpose and planning. What is it? It is when therapy is planned, pursued, and accomplished. All necessary dental needs are met and patients are considered in optimal dental health. Patients see our hygienists on a regular recall and desire monitoring by our dentists each year. Home care is priority and patients understand oral care contributes to overall health and quality of life.
Patients generally fall into one of four categories:
Complete Care
These are our patients achieving or striving for total dental health. They pursue cleanings and regular care. Their home care is excellent. They are committed.
Cosmetic Care
While these patients may also qualify as complete care patients, they are also interested in augmenting their smile by whitening or other esthetic options. These patients are very committed.
Corrective Care
Some patients want to come and go, often showing up only every couple of years. Home care is not where it could be and prevention is not on their minds. Theses are on a slippery slope and potentially could lose their teeth, unnecessarily.
Crisis Care
Patients who come for emergency only. No prevention is priority. Home care is neglected. Loss of teeth is inevitable.
